Manchester United Women have signed forward Melvine Malard from Lyon on a permanent deal. The 24-year-old France international spent last season on loan at United, where she scored seven goals and played a key role in their 2023-24 FA Cup-winning campaign. United exercised an option-to-buy clause to bring Malard to the club on a contract until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Malard expressed her delight at making the move permanent, stating, "I am very happy to make my stay here at Manchester United permanent, after this great club and this great city became my home last season. Here I felt loved. Thank you to the fans for welcoming me so well - I will do what it takes to give you even more than last season and I look forward to more winning seasons together."

United manager Marc Skinner praised Malard's contribution, saying, "Melvine is an excellent character on and off the pitch, with winning pedigree, who we are delighted to see join our Manchester United family on a permanent basis. She has already given our fans some great memories and will no doubt continue to do so in the coming seasons."

Malard, who has won the Champions League four times and three French league titles with Lyon, is United's second summer signing, following defender Dominique Janssen from Wolfsburg.
