Manchester United put on a dominant display, shrugging past League One side Barnsley 7-0 in the third round of the Carabao Cup. Erik ten Hag's team was ruthless from the start, with Marcus Rashford leading the forward line and marking his 200th appearance at Old Trafford with two very well-taken goals. United took the lead early, heading into halftime with a 3-0 lead.

Alejandro Garnacho, who was rested in the previous match, also bagged a brace, showing his exposure and quick wits in front of goal. The Argentine's impressive runs and clinical finishing were threatening, with Christian Eriksen pulling the strings from midfield and also adding two late goals to complete the rout.

Antony got on the scoresheet as well, converting a penalty after Rashford, the usual taker, selflessly allowed him to take it, boosting the Brazilian's confidence who comes off much criticism about this form and place in the team. The Brazilian was also linked to a move away from the club but eventually, he stayed at United. Manchester United was fluid throughout, with Casemiro, Eriksen, and Garnacho linking up well to create chances that the Barnsley defence couldn't come up to terms with.

Barnsley, currently seventh in League One, had no answer to United’s high press and relentless attack. They struggled to break out of their half and were consistently under pressure as United piled on the goals. Ten Hag’s side was relentless, and the victory marked the biggest win of his tenure as Manchester United manager.

With back to back wins, 10 goals scored, and none conceded, United will head into their Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, full of confidence. The game showed a glimpse of what Ten Hag and Manchester United are capable of, with contributions coming from all areas of the pitch.
