Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia is edging closer to a return after being sidelined for an extended period due to injury. The Dutch left-back missed the entirety of last season, following knee surgery, and has not featured for the team since the 2022/23 campaign. Malacia made 39 appearances in his debut season at the club after joining from Feyenoord in July 2022, but he has been absent from the pitch since.

There has been good news about Tyrell Malacia's recovery, with Erik ten Hag saying the defender is making strong progress and could soon join team training. After training on his own earlier this summer, the 25-year-old is now part of United’s 25-man squad for the Europa League, raising hopes that he’ll be back on the pitch soon. Ten Hag is optimistic that Malacia will return to training with the team and get ready for matches soon.

In the meantime, United has faced challenges at left-back due to Luke Shaw’s injury, which has opened the door for Diogo Dalot to continue playing in the position with Mazraoui coming in from Bayern Munich to play in the right back position. Meanwhile, youngster Harry Amass has been added to the first-team training as an immediate cover that may be required. However, Malacia's imminent return would provide a much-needed boost to United’s defensive options for the remainder of the season.
