The selfish reason Marcus Rashford won’t leave Man United

ESPN has been informed by journalist Rob Dawson that any deal for Marcus Rashford depends on Marcus Rashford taking a pay cut, or a suitor matching his Man United salary.

Man United is in a difficult position right now. Obviously, they want to strengthen from last season by bringing in fresh blood. However, to do that, the Red Devils need to offload their deadwood which has been holding them back.

That's easier said than done, considering the hole Man United has dug themselves. See, players are on extortionate wages, which essentially leaves the ball in their court about whether or not they want to leave.

This is a tragic tale which Man United is now learning with Marcus Rashford.

Marcus Rashford hasn't leave Man United because of money

According to Rob Dawson, who recently spoke to ESPN about Marcus Rashford, Man United is open to either selling him permanently for around £40m or allowing a loan move. However, any deal falls back on his current wage situation.

As it stands, Marcus Rashford is on huge wages. Rashford earns £300,000 ($411,243) per week, according to TEAMTALK. If he is to leave Man United, he needs to accept a pay cut, which Rob Dawson said isn't the case right now, or find somewhere that will match his Man United salary.

In his own words, Dawson told ESPN: "[Rashford] is on an extortionate amount of money at Man United. He's got three years left on his contract and before any of these deals get over the line, whether it's Bayern Munich, Barcelona, anyone else, they're going to have to be willing to match those wages..."

"... Unless Marcus himself wants to take a pay cut and so far, he hasn't shown a willingness to do that."

"At some stage, he's going to have to make a decision."

Marcus Rashford has a big decision to make

That decision which Marcus Rashford must make boils down to one simple question: Football, or money?

If Rashford wants to play and wants to start winning trophies, then he must put his money where his mouth is. At this stage, the deals have not gone through as planned due to that massive contract.

That is something that is in Rashford's hands, nobody else's.

Look, it's not Rashford's fault that he earns the amount he does. He was offered a huge contract early on at Man United and he was obviously going to take it. Fans cannot blame him for that, nobody expects him to say no to that.

So now, Man United acting as quickly as they did back then is haunting them. This is a situation which paints nobody in a good light.
