It's a shame this won't happen with MUFC

It wasn't supposed to end this way for Manchester United and Marcus Rashford. Remember when he was a baby-faced teenager and scored those two goals vs. Arsenal at Old Trafford? Of course you do. After those goals, the hope was that Rashy would go on to win several league titles with the club.

That's not going to happen. Barring a massive stunner, Rashford, who closed out the season on loan with Aston Villa last campaign, is going to leave Manchester this summer and start suiting up for a different club. It feels like the door is all but closed for him to play for United again.

In a new report from The Athletic's David Ornstein, he makes it quite clear that Rashford and United are set to part ways. Not only that, but Ornstein has also reported that the superstar winger is prioritizing a move abroad so he can compete for titles.

Marcus Rashford's exit from Manchester United is expected to go through this summer

“However, Rashford currently favours a switch overseas and ideally one that would enable the England international to compete for titles," Ornstein wrote in a new piece for The Athletic. " In the meantime, he intends to report with the majority of United’s squad for the start of pre-season training on July 7.”

On one hand, Rashford reporting for training with United next week shouldn't come as a surprise. He's still under contract until 2028 and the last thing he's going to do is do anything to alienate the fanbase or the club.

Rashford has made it more than clear that he'll always have love for Manchester United and that's not going to change no matter what. With that said, it's a shame that this appears to be the way things are going to end for him with the Old Trafford side.

Again, people have been dreaming of him winning a Premier League title with United, but at this point, his focus is on pushing for trophies elsewhere. It's a positive that he won't be joining a big club in England, but not seeing him continue to fight for United just doesn't sit well with a lot of people.
