"That's what happens when you finish off your chances": Lessons learnt as Manchester United thrash Barnsley 7-0
Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Christian Eriksen all scored braces, and Antony also found the net, leading Manchester United to a 7-0 victory against League One side Barnsley. The commanding victory was undoubtedly a wonderful way to follow up on the 3-0 triumph against Southampton last Saturday.
What did you pick from that "healthy" Manchester United Carabao Cup victory over Barnsley?
I will go first. If Manchester United is clinical, they can be formidable. This season, United has skilfully generated numerous goal-scoring chances. In the first three games of the season, United generated numerous opportunities but lacked the necessary precision. Securing a 7-0 victory, Ten Hag's most significant win with Manchester United exemplifies the importance of seizing opportunities.
It was also excellent that Erik Ten Hag rotated his team, resting Andre Onana, Noussair Mazraoui, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, Joshua Zirkzee, and Amad Diallo. Ten Hag has become more flexible and is no longer adhering to a single lineup as he did in the previous season.
That said, Garnacho appeared exceptionally sharp; Ten Hag has truly discovered how to maximise his potential. He managed to score two goals and provide two assists.

Rashford appears to be gaining confidence, continuing from his performance against Southampton; versus Barnsley, he scored two goals and provided an assist. Additionally, he demonstrated a strong desire to take on defenders.
Eriksen appears to be returning to relevancy. He played a crucial role in the 3-0 victory against Southampton and, as a number 10 against Barnsley, truly dominated the game, rightfully scoring two goals.
Despite not making headlines, Manuel Ugarte played well in his Old Trafford debut. While tirelessly performing his role in the background, he subtly "shaped" the game.
It was wonderful to see Antony play and score, while Bruno Fernandes contributed with 2 assists after coming on in the second half for a 30-minute cameo. Some critics might argue that we shouldn't exaggerate the significance of that victory, pointing out that it was merely a League One team, Barnsley, that we defeated.
Nonetheless, let the Red Devils relish this outstanding performance
