Surely Manchester United can build on that inspired 3-0 win over the Saints

Manchester United needed to bounce back after losing two games in a row, 2-1 to Brighton and 3-0 to Liverpool, and they accomplished just that, defeating Southampton 3-0 at St Marys Stadium.

Manchester United faced Southampton at the St Marys Stadium shortly after returning from international duty. After midfield disappointments in the match against Liverpool before the break, United manager Erick Ten Hag made alterations to their starting lineup, with Christian Eriksen replacing Casemiro.

United struggled for the first 30 minutes of the game, but after Andre Onana saved a penalty, they regained their rhythm. Matthijs de Ligt scored a header in the 35th minute to put United ahead, and Marcus Rashford increased the lead in the 41st minute. United held a 2-0 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Southampton captain Jack Stephens' straight red card for a vicious tackle on Garnacho gave the Red Devils' an advantage. United did not take full advantage of having an extra man, but late on they did score a third goal through Alejandro Garnacho.

Manchester United won, but which Red Devils impressed the most?

Rashford appeared rejuvenated; he was vibrant, and his goal was just an outstanding display.

Joshua Zirkzee did everything but score; his link-up play was excellent, and that performance only increased his confidence.

Eriksen did well stepping up in midfield, but United's midfield still hasn't clicked and was exposed early on in the game.

Amad Diallo is undoubtedly our best attacker. He doesn't shy away from 1v1, taking on opponents with conviction. However, he relied too much on his left and was reluctant to cut the ball onto his right.

Andre Onana's penalty save brought the team back into the game.

Mazroui is a significant improvement over Aaron Wan Bissaka and continues to impress.

Ugarte made an excellent cameo appearance and has already demonstrated his ball-winning ability.

Garnacho deserves to start, even if he's a cheat code off the bench.

Ultimately, Manchester United players stepped up, and it's pleasing to see them winning again. Surely they can build on that.
