Manchester United will be kicking off their 2024/25 Europa League campaign on Wednesday evening with a home game against Dutch side FC Twente. Erik ten Hag's men will be looking to get back to winning ways after a frustrating goalless draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League, following impressive outings against Southampton and Barnsley. The Red Devils will be hoping to get their winning ways back after a disappointing result against Palace where they were clearly the dominant side but unable to get all three points.

The return of key players from injury has given Erik ten Hag a few options in the squad. Rasmus Højlund made his first appearance of the season as a substitute at Selhurst Park after an injury while Mason Mount, also back from injury, was named on the bench in London and could be an option to start against Twente.

Ten Hag, who has a strong personal connection with Twente after representing them over 200 times as a player, may also consider Victor Lindelof for selection, as the defender has resumed full training. Tyrell Malacia participated in the warm-ups at Carrington, and although he hasn’t yet featured this season, he’s one of three left-backs named in United’s Europa League squad alongside Luke Shaw and 17-year-old Harry Amass. Malacia is unlikely to be part of the team for a considerable time as he will be slowly transitioned back into the team. Luke Shaw is also yet to play any minutes as he recovers from a calf problem.

Four of United’s five summer signings are expected to be in contention for their European debut, though Leny Yoro remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from surgery on a foot injury sustained during the pre-season. The young French defender is part of the squad for the revamped Europa League phase, which spans eight games until January.

United will be eager to begin their European journey with a win as they welcome Twente to Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag will be looking for a comfortable win to get their swinging season back on winning ways after a couple of positive weeks.
