Manchester United is set to announce highly rated forward after necessary approvals from the Premier League.

Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing of highly-rated teenage striker Chido Obi-Martin after receiving Premier League approval. The 16-year-old, who went viral last year for netting 10 goals in a single game for Arsenal against, had been a free agent following the expiration of his contract with the North London club. However, he was long reported as accepting United’s offer pending Premier League approval and now with the approval, he is expected to be announced soon.

Obi-Martin rejected a scholar deal with Arsenal, opting instead to join United, despite interest from many top European sides, including Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. He had a brilliant 2023-24 season at youth level for Arsenal, scoring 32 goals in just 24 appearances. His outstanding form included a 10-goal display in a 14-3 victory over Liverpool U16s and a seven-goal haul for the U18s in a 9-0 demolition of Norwich.

His move, however, was subject to a lengthy review process, as is required for transfers between academies. According to latest reports now, that process has now been completed successfully, allowing the teenager to officially sign with the Red Devils.

While United fans eagerly wait for his arrival, the club is set to give Obi-Martin time to reach full fitness before integrating him into their youth setup. The striker is expected to be eased into the United U-18 and may be opted to feature in the first team as well on an occasion or few. The highly rated striker also teased the move on social media, posting a photo with Manchester United legend Eric Cantona, sparking excitement among the fanbase.

The club is expected to announce the transfer soon, marking a significant transfer window among many big names moving to the club recently. He will surely be a good addition to United’s youth ranks. Only time will tell, how this move fares.
