Man United just announced their second official signing of the summer transfer window in Diego Leon, subject to registration.
This summer is all about one thing as far as Man United is concerned, signings. It would be an understatement to say that the Red Devils need to improve and thankfully, they've already got the ball rolling.
Matheus Cunha is officially a Man United player, having been given a big boost by his squad number. Next up on the agenda for Man United is, you guessed it, more signings.
An emphasis will be on the attack, since Man United is expected to lose out on a few departures. However, thanks to some work already being done, the Red Devils are assured in their back-line too.
Man United officially announce Diego Leon
As officially confirmed by Man United this morning, Diego Leon has signed as a Red Devil. The 18-year-old's arrival is subject to registration but other than that, fans can get excited about their youth addition.
Diego Leon was originally signed as a Man United player back in the January transfer window, however, Man United were forced to wait another six months before he could come home due to his age.
Now that he's 18 years old and passes all the requirements to be a Man United player, fans will eagerly await his registration. Nevertheless, his arrival has been announced by the club.
Things look exciting for Diego Leon already
Leon is wasting no time in making a name for himself among the Old Trafford faithful. Before kicking a ball for the club, he's made his intention clear: he wants to play.
In his own words, Leon said: “Everyone thinks I'll go out on loan, but I don't have that mentality. I'm going to kill it in the preseason, and in one or two games I'll be playing with them.”
This raises Man United eyebrows for two key reasons. The first being that he's defying all the stereotypes of signing young players. He knows the myth that people will have in their heads, "oh, he'll only be sent out on loan and forgotten about." Not if he has anything to do with it.
Secondly, the expectation among the fanbase was that Leon was signed to provide backup to full-back Patrick Dorgu. Again, not if Leon has anything to do with it: he wants to do more than just "play backup." Healthy competition should always be welcomed.
Welcome to Man United, Diego Leon.
