Manchester United are closing in on landing Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, which is another monumental step toward fixing their goal-scoring issues, but the work is far from over.

All signs point toward this deal happening soon. According to talkSPORT's Alex Crook and Ben Jacobs, Mbeumo is expected to have his Man United medical next week.

But what comes next?

Even once this deal is finalized, United must get straight back to work. Rubem Amorim's squad requires major retooling for this team to springboard back into contention for European football. Beyond more incomings, United must determine which players walk out the door.

Mbeumo will join Matheus Cunha in a revamped United attack, but more reinforcements are required.

For that to happen, the club must first find a resolution with Jadon Sancho.

Man United must follow Bryan Mbeumo blockbuster by finding a No. 9 (but only after selling Jadon Sancho)

Before United can continue adding talent, they must figure out who's leaving. That includes Sancho, who Chelsea had no interest in retaining after his loan spell finished. Several teams have reportedly shown interest, including Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce.

Fabrizio Romano also revealed to GiveMeSport that Juventus and Napoli are among the clubs willing to make a move for Sancho, although his wage demands could derail a deal.

United must find a solution, recoup some of the £73 million they spent to sign Sancho from Dortmund, and reinvest the money in the squad. Finding a striker sits atop that list, as United needs to add a No. 9 to complement Mbeumo and Cunha.

Romano offered a glimmer of hope that United could still land Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, a deal that had seemingly become less likely.

Talk about revamping the front three. A trio of Gyokeres, Cunha, and Mbeumo, with Bruno Fernandes giving them service? Look. Out.

United likely needs to sell to make it happen. Multiple players could soon depart, potentially beginning with Antony. But Sancho's future is a big part of the transfer window puzzle, and the club needs to find a solution as soon as possible.
