Fourth priority- Centre-Back

Now we’re at a point where the priority position will change according to outgoings. As things stand, United have four centre-backs, with Luke Shaw able to deputise there if needed. While that should be enough to ride out the whole season, the futures of both backup CBs, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are in doubt.

While Lindelof seeks more first-team football, Maguire’s future is in jeopardy due to poor form. Even if one of these two players leaves, a very likely scenario, United will need to beef up their ranks.

However, this is a position where it’s unlikely that United spend freely. Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are undisputed starters, so a smart, young buy who can slot in in their absence while developing could be the answer. Maybe Evan Ndicka on a free transfer?
