Manchester United tipped to sign former rival’s star player

Manchester United have been urged to sign a former player of their arch rivals Liverpool in a bid to fix their attacking problems at Old Trafford.

One thing has been blatantly clear at Old Trafford. It is as bright as the stars on a clear summers day. As translucent as a freshly cleaned window. Manchester United are in a desperate need to reinforce their attacking options.

The January window would have yielded the Red Devils with the perfect opportunity but alas the club failed to find any sufficient reinforcements. It was not for a lack of trying however. United notoriously failed with a bid to bring in the hugely exciting teenage sensation Erling Braut Haland who opted to sign for German giants Borussia Dortmund instead. United will rue missing out on the Norwegian as Haaland has started life in Germany on prolific form.

The Red Devils were also linked with a move for world class striker Edinson Cavani but nothing materialised out of that deal.

Instead United in a major shock went and signed Odion Ighalo from China. The Nigerian forward had a successful spell in the Premier League a couple of years ago for Watford but wit him being over 30 years old and winding down his career in the less competitive Chinese league the move seems like a panic buy.

And according to former Premier League legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink United made a huge mistake in signing the Nigerian forward.

According to the former Chelsea striker via the Metro instead of Ighalo the Red Devils should have ‘thrown money’ at the likes of Danny Ings.

Ings who is a former Liverpool forward is on terrific form at the moment and is currently third in the top goalscorer charts in the Premier League with 14 goals.

The current Southampton forward is also still 27 years of age which means he still has time at the peak of his game.

Perhaps he would have indeed been a better addition than Ighalo but only time will tell and United would surely have found it difficult to convince a former Liverpool player to come to Old Trafford.
