Manchester United will travel to Anfield on Sunday hoping to cause a major upset. Here is how the Red Devils team is expected to line-up.
Perhaps claiming the tie against Liverpool to be the biggest game of the season on Sunday for Manchester United is a bit of an overstatement. The Red Devils still have some plenty of crunch games which will inevitably determine whether or not they will be able to make it to the much coveted Champions League places.
Nonetheless, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will come to Anfield desperate to get a victory and put even a marginal dent in their rivals title bid.
That would of course be no mean feat with the Reds currently unbeaten in the Premier League and unbeaten in all competitions at Anfield for over 1000 days.
After some disappointment against the big teams so far in 2020 with defeats to both Arsenal and Manchester City Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be desperate to win a derby match.
However with several key players out injured and Marcus Rashford picking up a niggle midweek, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not spoilt for choice when deciding who will play against Liverpool.
He will face some nervous 24 hours ahead of the game hoping his key player Marcus Rashford will be fit to play.
Here is how the Red Devils are expected to line-up against Liverpool:
Goalkeeper: David De Gea
Right Back: Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Centre Back: Victor Lindelof
Centre Back: Harry Maguire
Left Back: Brandon Williams
Holding Midfielder: Nemanja Matic
Central Midfielder: Fred
Central Midfielder: Juan Mata
Right Winger: Daniel James
Forward: Anthony Martial
Left Winger: Marcus Rashford
The youngster Mason Greenwood drops out of the starting eleven with Daniel James having performed well against Liverpool last time out. However if Marcus Rashford is passed not fit enough to play Greenwood might come in to replace him.
In midfield the experience of Nemanja Matic will be crucial to keep the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from surging forward, meanwhile Juan Mata who is currently in hot form could be the key player in unlocking the Liverpool defence.
The pace of the front three will be crucial too to get in behind Liverpool.
In addition Brandon Williams will be hoping to impress against Mohamed Salah.
What do you think, can Manchester United beat Liverpool?
