Manchester United’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City has been completely overblown by the media – so get behind the team!

The recent Manchester derby was a disappointing game for the red half of the city. United were poor at the Etihad, plain and simple – but that doesn’t mean we’re back to square one. So back the Red Devils!
Manchester United’s performance in the 3-1 loss to Manchester City was unacceptable. I get that. But I think the media has completely exaggerated just how bad the result was in the grand scheme of things.
After the game, Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Graeme Souness engaged in a heated debate in which the United legend – the voice of reason, as always – attempted to play down the “crisis” the ex-Liverpool player was trying to stir up at the club.
Indeed, an away loss against the best side in the country when you’re missing your best player and your striker is recovering from injury isn’t exactly the end of the world.
And you also can’t ignore the progress we’ve made in the games leading up to the derby. The 3-2 comeback against Newcastle United, the draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the win against Everton and the 2-1 comeback against Bournemouth were all fantastic results.
Furthermore, the 2-1 away win against Juventus in the Champions League just before the derby was a historical result that Souness and other biased, anti-United pundits seemed to have just forgotten about.
Instead, the players should be proud of the resilience, maturity and composure they have been showing for the last two months – especially in the comebacks. One loss doesn’t change anything.
Hopefully, the players aren’t too disheartened by the defeat against their rivals on the weekend. They should use the international break to clear their minds so that they can come back even stronger when we face Crystal Palace on 24 November in the Premier League.
So keep your heads up lads – we’re still behind you 100 per cent!
Do you agree that the media is being way too biased against United? Or do you think pundits like Graeme Souness have a point? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below!
