Report: United want Guirassy in January
Manchester United are interested in bring VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy to Old Trafford in January, according to reports.
The Guinean striker is set to be available at a cut price of just €17.5million due to his current release clause. This has meant that several clubs have been alerted to his possible availability this winter.
Guirassy, 27, has been in sensational form and has been competing with Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane in their own competition for who can break the most goal records this season. Guirassy has 15 goals in 10 Bundesliga games and earlier in the season broke Robert Lewandowski’s record by scoring 11 goals within his first 7 appearances of the season.
Suttgart themselves will be hoping to keep Guirassy with them until at least the summer, as they have been incredible in the Bundesliga this term. They sit in 3rd - 5 points behind the Bavarians ahesd of Matchday 13 this weekend. This was a team that survived relegation last summer by winning in the two legged relegation play-offs against Hamburg.
Reports have suggested that the Red Devils have been in contact with his agents to see where his interest lay, ahead of links with Arsenal, Newcastle and Fulham in the Premier League alone. United would hope to secure his services as Rasmus Højlund has found it difficult to hit the ground running in the Premier League as he still searches for his first goal - despite being impressive in the Champions League.
Red Devil Armada’s verdict:
For anyone following the Bundesliga, they will know just how complete of a striker Serhou Guirassy looks like. He has transformed the expectations of Stuttgart this season and they look well on their way to securing Champions League football by next summer. However, that is highly dependent on keeping Guirassy in what will be a long January to keep suitors away. From United’s perspective, the plan over the summer that has gone was Ten Hag’s idea to bring in two strikers - a young, hungry striker and one experienced talisman.
The prospect of signing Harry Kane was deemed to expensive for the Glazer’s, so Ten Hag had to settle with buying Højlund, albeit a player who is showing great potential. Yet the burden of goals cannot be solely placed on him and that is exactly what is occurring. To aid his development, that burden must be lifted and a striker such as Guirassy would be a low fee and low risk signing that could transfer the Reds season.
