Hannibal Mejbri is closing in on a loan switch to La Liga side Sevilla, according to The Athletic.

The Tunisian has made just 10 appearances for United this season under Ten Hag, struggling to start many games either. He has featured in just 3 starting lineups.

A loan move to Sevilla would see him join a struggling side, who as of recently are managed by Quique Sánchez Flores. The Spanish side are currently 16th in La Liga and just one point above the relegation zone. They were dumped out of Europe altogether too as of last month.

There could be an option to buy at the end of the loan, but it would warrant a high fee and a buy back clause.

Another side interested in the midfielder is Everton. Sean Dyche’s side are reportedly interested in acquiring his services. It seems United’s preference is for the Tunisian to join La Liga, where Alvaro Fernandez and Mason a greenwood currently are. Facundo Pellistri could also be joined by them amidst interest from Villarreal.

Red Devil Armada’s verdict:

Hannibal’s last appearance under Ten Hag was a few minutes in United’s recent 2-0 victory against Wigan in the FA Cup on Monday. He looked deflated, and who could blame him?

He voluntarily decided not to join Tunisia at AFCON to further his chances of featuring for United, but it looks as though a gut punch has been thrown by Ten Hag to another United youngster who was possibly given false promises.

It is a poor idea to loan him out to a struggling team, so Everton would certainly be a better choice for experience and short term development. It is a further hit given that there could be an option to buy at the end of that, which is baffling given the quality of the performances have been so low this season.
