La Liga side Villarreal are in the process of making a move for Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri, according to Football Espana.

Pellistri has featured 13 times for United in all competitions, with 9 appearances in the Premier League collecting one assist. The La Liga outfit are interested in securing the Uruguayan’s services on loan, but could look to include a buy option for the winger.

Last season, many fans were calling for Pellistri to be included more often, given how impressive he was in a Uruguay shirt. As a result, he did get a spell earlier in the season to impress but this was under rough circumstances in a bad spell for the Old Trafford side.

Villarreal have recently re-signed former United defender Eric Bailly on a free transfer after his release from Besiktas. The Ivorian joined United from Villarreal initially, and would be linking up with his former teammate if Pellistri did make the move under Marcelino.

Red Devil Armada’s verdict:

His appearances under Erik Ten Hag have drastically reduced as the season has gone on, mainly due to increased pressure on the Dutchman to deliver results.

It is also notably known that Ten Hag tends not to rotate much throughout the course of the season, unless forced to. The recent return for Amad Diallo is another factor to consider. The Ivorian looked bright in his return cameo and would be preferred, which would pull him further down the pecking order behind Garnacho, Antony and Diallo so a loan move makes sense for the timebeing.
