The "Ten Hag out" narrative has linked numerous prominent coaches, including Simone Inzaghi, to Manchester United, placing pressure on the club to make a change if things don't improve. Most Red Devils fans are dissatisfied with their team's start to the current season, including three wins, three losses, and two draws.
After two seasons, Manchester United fans expected this to be the season in which they finally saw a team with style and the ability to compete, but that has not been the case. Ten Hag's tactical ideas, substitutions, and player selection have raised questions.
Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke, as per Football 365, suggests that the next two United fixtures against FC Porto and Aston Villa could either save or lose Ten Hag's job. If his team doesn't improve and leaves, which manager is best suited? I'd choose Inter Milan's Simon Inzaghi who the Daily Star says is on the Red Devil's radar.
Ten Hag out, Inzaghi in
Ten Hag boasts of winning trophies, including two in his first two years in command. Inzaghi is also a proven winner. The Italian strategist joined Inter Milan in 2021 and has won one Serie A title, two Coppa Italia wins, and three Supercoppa Italian titles in a row. His side finished runners-up in the 2023 UEFA Champions League final.
However, it is not his winning CV that should make him more appealing to United decision-makers at INEOS. The issue is that his preferred 3-5-2 structure at Inter Milan does not include wingers, which is contrary to Manchester United's approach.
However, after Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013, the Red Devils have played in a unique style. United's players are capable of perfectly executing a 3-5-2 setup.
You'd expect Leny Yoro to play once he's fully fit, as would Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt; the trio could create a formidable back three, with Maguire and Yoro standing in for each other in the centre. Aside from the back three, a front two of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee may be simpler to start. Zirkzee's ability to create chances and Hojlund's ability to score goals could make them complement each other.
That being said, we will have to wait and watch if Ten Hag turns things around; if he does, it will be intriguing to see if Inzaghi is the man who replaces him and if the Italian, who just signed a new deal with Inter, agrees to move to Manchester.
