Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided a positive update on French defender Leny Yoro as he continues his recovery from a foot injury sustained during the pre-season. Yoro, who joined United from Lille in the summer, impressed during his debut against Rangers but fractured his metatarsal in a later pre-season match against Arsenal, sideling him from the first team ever since.

The 18-year-old underwent surgery and has since been making good progress at Carrington. Speaking ahead of the Red Devils match against Tottenham Hotspur, Ten Hag was positive on Yoro's rehabilitation, stating that his recovery is "going in the right direction" and that the defender is on the right path to rejoining the squad.

Although no specific return date has been set, Ten Hag hinted that Yoro could potentially make his competitive debut by the end of the year. Quite interestingly, the return may be in the fixture against Arsenal in December. The manager emphasized patience, saying the young defender is in the right planning process and will rejoin team training soon. This is something that the club needs to be careful as Erik ten Hag was baffled by lengthy injuries during the past season. The return of Luke Shaw is a similar example as the English Right-back was unavailable again after being rushed back into the team for England during the Euros.

Yoro’s injury came as a setback, especially after Manchester United won the race to sign him over strong interest from Real Madrid. However, the club is optimistic about his return, eager to see the highly-rated defender in action in the Premier League.
