Manchester United has submitted a £54m offer to sign Bryan Mbuemo from Brentford. Rasmus Hojlund should seriously be sweating.

In the buildup to Manchester United's most important game of the season so far, the Europa League final against Tottenham, nobody expected the transfer news to heat up. However, while the current is important, it's equally as crucial that the Red Devils build for the future.

If Man United wins the Europa League this season, it would only paper over the cracks. As it stands, they are 16th in the league standings, with only 10 wins all season. For context, only the three relegated teams have lost more games than United this season.

It seems bizarre to say this given the club's pedigree, but Ruben Amorim should count his lucky stars that the relegation zone was the stinkiest it's been in some time. Otherwise, Man United might have even faced the drop.

Nevertheless, Amorim is aware of the mess he inherited. If he's to finish the season with silverware, then he'll be temporarily satisfied. It won't fix all of United's issues, though, only the transfer window will.

For a long time, Man United has struggled offensively. They simply need to bring in a talismanic striker, where Rasmus Hojlund continues to undersell himself.

Man United submit big Bryan Mbuemo transfer offer

According to a report from Fichajes, Man United has submitted an offer worth close to €65m (£54m) for Bryan Mbuemo. The Brenford attacker is in high demand, and the Bees could cash in on a few of their stars this summer.

Mbuemo has scored an impressive 19 Premier League goals this season. For context, Rasmus Hojlund has scored just four, making Mbuemo 4.75x more productive in front of the goal.

Bryan Mbuemo has one more year remaining on his Brentford contract. In June 2026, the Bees then have the option to extend for a further year. To avoid losing out on a potential revenue boost, Brentford might be swayed by a big-money offer, which Man United has submitted on their behalf.

Time will tell if the West London team is convinced into accepting Man United's offer, or whether the Red Devils will need to up their stakes.
