Manchester United Women secured an impressive 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Leigh Sports Village, moving level with Chelsea at the top of the Women's Super League table. Norwegian striker Elisabeth Terland, who joined the team this summer, was the star as she netted two crucial goals in the first half to give United a commanding lead. Unlike the men's first team, who had a rather embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Tottenham, Skinner’s team cruised comfortably past Spurs Women.
The first goal came just before half-time, as Bizet broke free on the right and delivered a perfect cross for Terland, who volleyed home via the underside of the crossbar. Moments later, Terland headed in her second, meeting another superb Bizet cross to double United's advantage before the break.
In the second half, United continued to dominate. Terland came close to completing her hat-trick, but her effort struck the post. United's third goal arrived when Maya Le Tissier converted from the penalty spot after a handball by Tottenham’s Ashleigh Neville.
Goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce also played a crucial role in the win as she made key saves throughout the match to maintain United’s fourth consecutive clean sheet across all competitions.
Both teams wore black armbands in tribute to Lord Herman Ouseley, a champion of anti-discrimination in football, following his recent passing. United now look ahead with confidence, still unbeaten and in strong form as they continue their push at the top of the WSL standings.
