Man United's Chuckle Brothers Must Go: "To me, to you"

Both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir have been given chances to prove they have what it takes to continue at Manchester United this season. They have both utterly failed their tests and the future looks bleak given the lack of time left in the transfer window.

Onana was signed as David de Gea's replacement in the summer of 2023 and arrived with a good reputation after a decent spell at Inter Milan. A fee of £42.7m was paid to bring the Cameroonian to Old Trafford.

Bayindir also joined the club that same summer, signing from Fenerbahce in £4.3m deal. The Turkish goalkeeper was immediately viewed as Onana's backup but has competed for the number one jersey under Amorim since he replaced Erik ten Hag.

Three games have told Man United all they need to know

If we are basing this analysis solely on the start of this season, the pair have already cost United twice in games that could prove to be decisive in the speculation growing over a possible Amorim departure.

The Portuguese coach surprised many by choosing Bayindir to start between the sticks in the season-opener against Arsenal at Old Trafford. He was too tame when trying to escape from William Saliba as Riccardo Calafiori met Declan Rice's header to net a winner in a game the Reds should have at least came away with a point from.

Amorim stuck with the Turk for his side's second Premier League game against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Every time the ball went out of play you got nervous because Bayindir was too nervous trying to command his box in such situations.

Onana suffered a hamstring injury in pre-season but Amorim made it clear that he had sat out those games for tactical reasons. He was given his chance in a Carabao Cup second round visit to EFL League Two minnows Grimsby Town.

The former Inter shot-stopper somehow outshined Bayindir for all the wrong reasons. He was too easily beaten at his near post for the opener before running out like Krusty the Clown and helplessly looked to claim a ball that ended up in the back of his net.

Onana and Bayindir should both go

It feels as though any changes between the sticks will see either Onana or Bayindir depart whether that be this summer or in the very near future. The club are reportedly pushing hard for Royal Antwerp's Senne Lammens off the back of the Grimsby defeat.

Rightfully so given how ridiculously pathetic both of Amorim's goalkeepers have been already this season. It's why many want 39-year-old Tom Heaton to take over for the Burnley game this weekend.

It's also why both of the duo should be sold over the coming months as they aren't good enough to be an understudy let alone a number one. If Amorim isn't careful they will be a significant reason his United career ends early.
