Man United is showing interest in landing Felix Nmecha as their next midfield signing. He plays for Borussia Dortmund, but has a Man City past.
While the Man United vs Man City rivalry has somewhat died down in recent years, with many viewing Liverpool as Man United's biggest and closest rivals, there is still animosity between the red and blue sides of Manchester.
Despite City's rise in recent history, Manchester will be red for a long time. If anything, the recent cracks shown by Man City demonstrate that they cannot compete at the highest level for as long as United did in their glory days.
And now, Man United's next transfer target will add more fuel to the fire.
Man United show interest in former Man City star Felix Nmecha
According to the reliable journalist Christian Falk, who specialises in German football, Man United is showing an interest in signing Felix Nmecha from Borussia Dortmund. At this stage, the transfer is not advanced, and it is merely interest from United's perspective.
Borussia Dortmund do not want to sell Felix Nmecha, and they will look to keep hold of him at all costs. This is understandable, since they're seeking to build something for next season after a poor display last time out.
Felix Nmecha is one of BVB's most important players and he is worth his weight in gold to the German side. Therefore, Man United will seriously need to push if they want to land top players this summer.
Man United issue blow to Man City
Man United fans and Man City fans alike can both be forgiven for forgetting Felix Nmecha. After all, despite coming through the Man City youth ranks, the German midfielder barely scraped the surface in Manchester.
He didn't make a single appearance in the Premier League before being signed by Wolfsburg, which is where he really made a name for himself.
Nmecha has formed his own identity in his home country and has left behind his days in England... Unless Man United can convince him to rewrite his own history.
Now a fully fledged Germany international after flitting between England and Germany's youth setups, Nmecha certainly has what it takes to become a real big-hitter in the Premier League.
Despite not being well remembered at Man City, it still feels bitter to watch any of their former players represent Man United. Therefore, the Citizens will hope that this deal falls through, while the Red Devils will be crossing their fingers for the opposite.
