Man United duo Harry Maguire and Rasmus Hojlund have been spotted training together. The joke writes itself, doesn't it?
Next week, Man United will be returning to pre-season training. They've got quite the opening fixture on their hands, as they prepare to face Leeds United in Stockholm, Sweden.
Man United and Leeds have quite the history, but the rivalry has fallen quite flat in recent times due to the sheer gap in quality (and divisions) between the two Northern teams.
Despite being in pre-season with minimal jeopardy, there will be a self-inflicted jeopardy of pride at stake here. Both teams will be eager to prove a point, even if only for bragging rights.
Harry Maguire and Rasmus Hojlund trained together
Thankfully for Man United, they can rely on the fitness of at least two starters: Rasmus Hojlund and Harry Maguire were seen training together. The video featured Rasmus Hojlund weaving between posts and firing a shot home, showing he's working on his shooting drills.
Last season, Hojlund had a lengthy injury which forced him out of action for the opening part of the season. Therefore, it's great to see the Dane is available for action.
Man United will just hope that he doesn't pick up another season-starting injury, as it would be a big knock for his confidence. Nevertheless, given United's lack of attacking options, Hojlund might just start against Leeds if he's still at the club then.
Man United fans are all making the same joke
In the comments of the Reddit post, Man United fans were all saying the same thing. It's like some jokes just write themselves, right?
One Redditor said "Harry is probably giving him some pointers on how to finish those half chances", while another said "One of the best forwards at Man United training Hojlund."
The funniest thing is, they're only half jokes. Maguire is probably more confident in front of goal at the moment than Hojlund is, which is a sad reality.
Joking aside, though, fans were happy to see Hojlund back in action. Some even raised a good point that Maguire is a great mentor for Hojlund, since Maguire has been at the front and centre of fan ridicule, so he knows how to go through it and come out of it a better player.
On this, a Redditor pointed out "Getting some advice and support from a former captain who had to endure a couple of terrible seasons and turned it around hopefully helps him." Another said "He could learn how to deal with slander from Harry. No one knows it better."
