Ollie Watkins is believed to be who Man United want if Rasmus Hojlund leaves. Aston Villa's recent transfer business suggests he's got one foot out the door.
Hojlund's future is still up in the air. Of course, United paid a pretty penny to bring him to Old Trafford, so it's in their best interest to allow him to repay that investment with his goals and assists.
However, the more time that passes, the more his stock value seems to plummet. This isn't great, as Man United is losing money by the day just by keeping him on the books.
Therefore, many Man United fans lean in favour of selling Hojlund this summer, to both raise some money and allow squad space for a new striker to be brought in.
It seems like a wasted opportunity not to do that, with the amount of luxury strikers available for sale this summer.
Man United linked to Ollie Watkins
Man United fans would never have assumed they'd be considering the potential arrival of Ollie Watkins. In all honesty, they might not have even considered signing a striker this summer.
However, that all changed when Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic revealed that Ollie Watkins is under consideration if Rasmus Hojlund leaves Man United this summer.
Needless to say, Man United would welcome Ollie Watkins with open arms. He's a proven goal-scorer, and combining that with his sheer work rate, Man United's attack could look a lot different next time out.
Unlike Hojlund, Watkins is proven on the big stage. He doesn't need many opportunities to bag a goal, which was proven by his legendary substitute performance for England at EURO 2024.
Fabrizio Romano all but opens the door for Ollie Watkins transfer
According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa has officially signed Zepiqueno Redmond on a free transfer from Feyenoord. While this could easily be a lucrative market opportunity given his youth, Man United fans see it as far more than that.
Reading between the lines, it seems that Aston Villa is preparing for life without Ollie Watkins. Of course, they lost out on Jhon Duran already, so the Villans are working hard to futureproof their attack.
Alas, Aston Villa's loss could be Man United's gain. In the most selfish way possible (nothing wrong with that in the transfer window), the Red Devils want to take Watkins away.
