Expected Manchester United line up vs Everton
Manchester United return from the international break to take on Everton this weekend.
The Toffees find themselves back in the relegation battle after being docked 10 points over FFP rules. They will be vying for a good display in front of the home crowd at Goodison Park, so the Red Devils must be wary of a possible upset coming their way.
Ten Hag’s team are currently experiencing their worst start to a season since the 1960’s, but the Dutchman will not be on the sidelines on Sunday as he is suspended after collecting his third caution in the 1-0 win against Luton. Previous cautions were in the games against Spurs and Arsenal.
Here is the expected line up for Sunday’s game:
André Onana is expected to return to the starting line up. He has not missed any games for United, but was forced off for Cameroon during the internationals due to a shoulder injury.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka did not feature against Luton Town, but a rest over the internationals whilst he contemplates a switch in nationality to DR Congo, means that he should be fit and raring to go.
Victor Lindelof should start ahead of Raphael Varane, who seems to be out of favour with manager Erik Ten Hag currently. Jonny Evans is also not fit to start, which has formed one half of Ten Hag’s preferred pairing as of recently.
Harry Maguire‘s redemption arc is in full flow as he is expected to continue his renaissance in the starting line up after a string of starts.
Sergio Reguilon is expected to start, but will be looking over his shoulders in coming days as Luke Shaw is back in first team training for the first time in three months.
Sofyan Amrabat should start as the team’s holding midfielder in the midst of a midfield injury crisis.
Scott McTominay is expected to start as part of a 4-2-3-1, in light of news that Christian Eriksen will be out for a month and Mason Mount confirmed last night to have picked up an injury which will keep him out for a month as well.
Facundo Pellistri could feature after impressing for Uruguay in the international break. The winger picked up an assist in his last outing for United.
Bruno Fernandes enjoyed a near perfect and unproblematic time with Portugal as he got on the scoresheet in their recent outing against Iceland. The captain will lead the fort against Everton’s counter attack.
Antony should expect to start as Marcus Rashford is a doubt for the game, having pulled out of the internationals for Gareth Southgate’s team.
Anthony Martial is likely to get a rare Premier League start up top in the absence of Rasmus Hojlund, who is not quite ready to feature for United. The Frenchman will certainly lead the line if Marcus Rashford is not deemed fit.
