Manchester United have confirmed that Luke Shaw is back in first team training, according to the club’s website.
United’s injury woes this season near enough began when Shaw got injured after playing just two games of the season, in the opening game against Wolves and the loss against Tottenham Hotspur. The injury was described as ‘muscle’ related and has kept the England international out for 3 months.
The additional absence of Tyrell Malacia over the summer left the Red Devils with no senior left-backs, leading to the loan signing of Sergio Reguilon from Spurs. Malacia is also expected to return very soon. This means that the left-back crisis is one less problem for United, who have seen Sofyan Amrabat, Victor Lindelof and Diogo Dalot all unnaturally deputise their at some point this season.
Ahead of the game against Everton at the weekend, Ten Hag will be hoping to have Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana back after injury news during the international break regarding the key duo.
Red Devil Armada’s verdict:
Shaw’s comeback is encouraging news for the United faithful, no doubt. United’s injury crisis is still deep with no end in sight, as more players are picking up knocks as the season wears. Therefore, Shaw’s return will be welcomed alongside Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez – all of whom have been long term lay-offs and pivotal in the way that Ten Hag wants him team to play.
