Manchester United Women have sign Japanese star Hinata Miyazawa ahead of the new season.

The Red Devils have been rumoured to have signed Miyazawa for a while now, and it is a major coup for the side. Miyazawa finished as this summer’s top goalscorer in the Women’s World Cup. United have added to their squad after signing Geyse from FC Barcelona. Gemma Evans and Emma Watson have also signed this summer.

Coach Marc Skinner’s team have recruited well following key departures over the summer. Key players such as Alessia Russo and World Cup winner Ona Batlle left the club, leaving gaping holes in the side after an impressive season for the club in 2022/23 that saw them secure a top 3 finish – ensuring Champions League football for the first time ever.

Miyazawa becomes the first Japanese woman to sign for Manchester United, and only the second Japanese player to ever play for the Red Devils after Shinji Kagawa.

The player said:

"“I am truly very happy to be part of this wonderful family and this great team. I am really looking forward to getting started and hope my style of play will excite our fans,”"

United Women’s team will kick off their new season on 1 October against Aston Villa Women.
