Manchester United are interested in signing Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, according to reports in Portugal.

United are secure with André Onana starting in goal, but are just one injury away from a goalkeeper crisis. Therefore Ten Hag is keen on adding some experience to his bench with Vlachodimos. The Portuguese outlet suggests that United have done their homework on the player and are waiting on Dean Henderson to leave the club.

The Greek goalkeeper has recently fallen out with Benfica manager Roger Schmidt, and that has been doubled down by him feeling a lack of support from the club. This could pave the way for a move to Old Trafford, with the Portuguese club expecting a fee of around €10million for the Greek goalkeeper.

Ten Hag faces a race to find a No2 goalkeeper before the transfer window closes, as Dean Henderson is expected to depart Old Trafford amidst interest from Crystal Palace. United have seen multiple goalkeepers leave this summer, which has left them scarce on the bench. David De Gea, Jack Butland, Nathan Bishop, Matej Kovar are just some of the men in between the sticks that have left United in the summer.

Tom Heaton’s injury all but confirmed that a search for a No2 is still on. Young Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki was seen as the ideal replacement earlier in June, but he rejected the Red Devils in favour of more first team football.
