Italian giants, Juventus have inquired about signing Manchester United striker, Mason Greenwood. Greenwood has yet to return to Manchester United’s first team after being arrested on attempted rape and assault charges in January 2022. Although his charges were dropped in February 2023, the 21-year-old striker has not featured in the Red Devils’ squad since being released, with reports stating that the team would be unwilling to accept him back.

However, according to reports by “The Sun”, Juventus may look to acquire Greenwood’s services through a multi-year loan deal. Spearheading the potential acquisition is former United star, Paul Pogba. Pogba played alongside Greenwood for over three years before moving back to Juventus on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.

Sources also claim that Greenwood will likely never don the United badge again, which may bolster Juventus’ chances of making the signing. These reports have described Greenwood’s frustration upon being left off the first team after he was cleared of his charges, as well as disdain regarding the Red Devils’ lengthy internal investigation.

As well, with coach, Erik ten Hag set to undertake a major reconstruction of Manchester United’s roster, Greenwood, who hasn’t played in nearly two whole seasons may be deemed expendable.

The wonderkid has also attracted interest from Serie A giants, AC Milan and AS Roma, as well as a slew of Turkish teams. With his contract set to expire in 2025, a loan deal will be the most realistic course of action if Greenwood should transfer out.

Due to his controversy, United have expressed worry over the fee they will receive for the English forward. Therefore, if he were to leave, it would probably be on a long-term loan, where the acquiring club would cover Greenwood’s hefty £75,000-a-week contract.

Should Greenwood play for Man Utd. again?
