Manchester United to consider players’ view on Mason Greenwood
Manchester United have decided to consider their men’s and women’s teams’ players’ opinion regarding Mason Greenwood’s potential return according to ESPN.
Despite having his criminal charges against him dropped, 21-year-old Greenwood’s future at the club remains uncertain as United have launched an internal investigation regarding him.
ESPN reports that as part of the investigation, the Premier League side will ask the opinions of squad members from both their men’s and women’s teams and while a unanimous decision hasn’t been revealed, The Times reports that some individuals do have their concerns regarding the youngster’s return. According to The Athletic, the audio clip released around his arrest has disturbed squad members and they feel strongly that the club should release the player.
Manchester United continue the investigation of Mason Greenwood
Man Utd are planning to run a thorough investigation including the circumstances around the 21-year-old’s arrest in January 2022. Despite not playing since then, the forward remains under contract until 2025 but there are a lot of doubts regarding his return, especially with sponsors having their own concerns regarding the matter.
The talented English international once had a bright future ahead of him after debuting for the Red Devils in 2019, making 129 appearances since. While the club haven’t made any comments regarding the investigation or his potential return, it is unlikely that a verdict is made before the season concludes with coach Erik ten Hag adamant about not having any unnecessary distractions during this crucial period of the season.
