Manchester United have reportedly identified the ‘next Cristiano Ronaldo’ to induct him into their ranks and will be in pursuit of him this summer.

Since the appointment of new manager Erik Ten Hag, Manchester United have witnessed a revival under the Dutchman and he has completely overturned the underwhelming situation from last season. United have also knocked out Barcelona from the UEFA Europa League and are well in course of a potential Quadruple challenge at the end of the season. Though it may sound insane to include the league title in the hopes, the European accolade and F.A. Cup remain well in sight. The Reds have already clinched the Carabao Cup earlier in February and thus put an end to their trophy drought of six-long years.

While Cristiano Ronaldo’s first stint at the club after Sir Alex Ferguson brought him from Sporting Lisbon was an unforgettable one as he became one of the key players in Manchester United’s success. The second stint after leaving Juventus has been an underwhelming one and the end of it turned bitter. The Portuguese legend’s interview with Piers Morgan saw him publicly criticising the new manager and that ultimately led to the cancellation of his contract with Manchester United.

However, The Red Devils have identified another star player from Portugal and he is revered as the next Cristiano Ronaldo by several pundits. According to a report from the magazine Four Four Two, Manchester United have registered their interest in Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos. Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha has claimed that United have initiated primary talks with the player’s agent Jorge Mendes over a potential transfer in the summer.

The 21-year-old snatched the limelight after scoring a hattrick for Portugal in the 2022 World Cup. He has netted 7 times in 12 games for Benfica in the Portuguese Primera and is gearing up his abilities for his future club where he will able to demonstrate them in a more exuberant manner.

Jorge Mendes is also the agent of Ansu Fati who is also on the radar for United as they aim for a massive summer transfer window.
