After a thrilling 2-2 at Camp Nou, Manchester United will welcome Barcelona at Old Trafford to decide which of these great teams will proceed through to the next round of the Europa League.
Erik ten Hag‘s side impressed many in their last clash against the Catalan giants, with club legend Paul Scholes publically hailing the Dutch boss for the squad’s performance. While the starting XI managed to come out level with the hosts, the return of Lisandro Martinez and Marcel Sabitzer will possibly bring a change to the lineup.
David de Gea playing between the post, with Raphaël Varane and Lisandro Martínez playing ahead of him as the centre-back pairing are the non-negotiables here. The return of Martinez will see Luke Shaw reclaim his position as the left-back over Tyrell Malacia. Meanwhile, for the right-back role, Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be selected over Diogo Dalot despite the Portuguese international being featured more since his return from injury. Casemiro will remain a key player for Ten Hag despite the availability of new signing Sabitzer. Fred will likely get the nod alongside his Brazilian companion despite his tendency to make errors.
The in-form Marcus Rashford will be the undisputed starter with Bruno Fernandes featuring either in the centre or the right flank. Wout Weghorst will bring the much-needed endurance to the attacking lineup with either Jadon Sancho or injured Antony competing for the final position. While Sancho has been slowly coming to form, Antony remains a potential game-winner for United and thus could be seen making an appearance if deemed fit enough to play.
