With 75 minutes gone, it had looked like Manchester United were set to get a second consecutive win against Aston Villa. For the first time in a long time, Bruno Fernandes had made his presence felt and scored a wonderful brace to give the Red Devils a 2-0 lead over Steven Gerrard’s side. They could not hold on to it though.

A goal in the 77th minute from Jacob Ramsey and then the equaliser from Philippe Coutinho, on his debut for Aston Villa, in the 81st minute meant that the points had to be shared with neither side managing to find a winner late on.

It is safe to say that this will be a very disappointing result for Ralf Rangnick’s side, who looked set for three very important points in the Premier League.

Instead, they have very little room for error left now, if they are to finish the campaign in the top four of the Premier League.

Manchester United vs Aston Villa: 3 things we learned from 2-2 draw

Here are three things we learned as Manchester United conceded two late goals and could only manage a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa:

Manchester United get a taste of their own medicine

For years, Manchester United have been famed for making brilliant comebacks. We saw some brilliant examples of that last season as the club would often go into the break a goal behind, only to turn things around later on.

This time around, they were given a taste of their own medicine though as Aston Villa came back from two goals down to grab a draw against the Red Devils.

And it is safe to say that it is not nearly as exciting when you are on the other side of the result. Manchester United must hope to avoid anything similar in the near future if they are to finish in the Champions League qualification spots.
