Manchester United’s struggles in front of goal continue

Manchester United have not been the most prolific in front of goal ever since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as manager.

And while results have been decent under the German coach till now, very often, they have had to rely on a solitary goal to get them. Sooner or later, that will need to change.

Even when they managed to find the back of the net on three occasions against Burnley, there was quite a bit of luck involved. Of course, one of them was an own goal. And then, Scott McTominay’s strike hit the post and conveniently fell in the path of Cristiano Ronaldo for the Portuguese superstar to slot it home. Yes, luck is a huge part of football, or any sport for that matter, but you cannot always count on it.

These are still early days for the club under the interim manager and they were always expected to take some time to come to grips with his system. But it is safe to say that they need to do it quickly.

Top stars need to get back into form

While their results might not suggest so, Manchester United have a very good squad and at the start of the season, many were even considering them as title contenders.

Of course, we all know how things have turned out since then but it must be said that this squad is good enough to finish in the top four at least. After all, they were second last season.

Things just don’t seem to be working out for them and a number of their top players, like Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, Edinson Cavani, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and others, are out of form at this point of time. That will need to change as soon as possible if the club are to get back into the top four.
