Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier has appeared to be Manchester United’s top target for the right-back position this summer. Having previously played for Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley, the Manchester City academy graduate has experience of Premier League football.

In the summer of 2019, Trippier joined Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid side, which proved to be the right decision last season, with the Spanish giants winning the La Liga title. It was Trippier’s first trophy in senior football.

But now it looks like he could be looking to make a return to England. Manchester United are believed to be interested in the English international but have not managed to make a deal happen yet.

As reported by Sky Sports, Atletico Madrid are believed to be looking for a transfer fee of around £43 million (€50 million), if they are to let Trippier leave this summer.

In Trippier, the Red Devils would get an experienced right-back, which could be great for Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s development as well. We have already seen the effect that Alex Telles’ arrival last summer had on the form of Luke Shaw, who was arguably the best left-back in the Premier League last season and went on to have a brilliant EURO 2020 campaign as well, playing a huge part in the England national team’s run to the final.

It could prove to be tough though for the Red Devils to shell out a €50 million transfer fee for the 30-year-old right-back.

Trippier, Aarons and Tavernier are three of the right-backs who Manchester United have been linked with in recent times. And all three of them could prove to be solid additions to their squad. It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils do decide to make a move for one of them this summer.
