3 players Manchester United made a mistake letting go too early
Wilfried Zaha
Similar to Depay, Zaha was another player who was at Manchester United very early on in his career. He joined from Crystal Palace back in 2013 and eventually ended up returning to them on a permanent basis in 2015.
He never quite got his opportunity at Old Trafford. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made just 4 appearances for the first-team.
In between that period of time, he had a few loan spells away from the club before ultimately leaving on a permanent basis. Interestingly, he was Sir Alex Ferguson’s last signing as the manager of Manchester United before he retired at the end of the 2012/13 season.
Since leaving the club, Zaha has proven his quality at Crystal Palace. He has been linked with several top clubs over the last several years but has remained at the London club and is arguably one of the greatest players to ever play for them.

And still just 28 years of age, you have to feel that he could climb up the list even further over time, if he remains at Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils could have certainly done with a player like Zaha. His trickery, dribbling ability and eye for a goal has given Premier League defences problems for years now. And it would have been very interesting to see what he could do in a Manchester United shirt.
Thus, Zaha, Depay and Di Maria are three of the players that the Red Devils perhaps made a mistake by letting go too early. Of course, there must have been a lot of factors at play which led to their ultimate departures from the club. But it would have been interesting to see what they could have gone on to achieve if they had stayed at the club.
