After years of being linked with him, Manchester United have managed to agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of Jadon Sancho. The English international is expected to come in and quickly solve their issues with lack of depth on the right wing.
On the other hand, the club have also completed the signing of Tom Heaton on a free transfer. And he can serve as a solid back up goalkeeper, if either David de Gea or Dean Henderson was to leave the club over the course of the summer.
Those were two positions that the club needed to strengthen in and they have done very well to get things done this quickly. Now, the question is, what should be their priority going forward in the summer transfer window?
They still appear to be light when it comes to options up front. Central midfield could turn out to be an area of worry if either Nemanja Matic or Paul Pogba, or maybe even both were to leave. And the club are expected to sign a centre-back this summer as well.

What should be Manchester United’s transfer priority now?
It is safe to say that the club need to strengthen in all those positions. But it might be difficult to bring in quality options all over the pitch at the same time.
If the club were to target a position moving forward as their priority, it should be central midfield. While Fred and Scott McTominay have formed a formidable partnership there, there is a feeling that it is an area where the club can improve further.
If they can sign a central midfielder who is solid defensively and also possesses good creative ability, it would help improve things both at the back and up front at the same time. Of course, finding a player with such attributes won’t be easy but if they can do so, it might make them immediate contenders both in the Premier League and in Europe.
On the other hand, the partnership of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof had appeared to be growing stronger through the course of the previous campaign, while Edinson Cavani’s form in the last few months suggested that he is still one of the best strikers on the planet. Thus, while signing players in those areas is important as well, bringing in a world-class central midfielder might lead to a bigger overall improvement in the squad.
It is worth pointing out that the club have been linked with names like Saul, Declan Rice, Eduardo Camavinga and many others in recent weeks when it comes to the position.
