Manchester United’s defence has shown some considerable progress this season. The partnership of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof has flourished in the heart of defence over the past several months and now, they are looking like one of the hardest teams to score against in the Premier League.

In their last 10 games in all competitions, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have managed to keep 7 clean-sheets. That is an impressive statistic, especially for a team that is not considered great defensively.

But even then, it does feel like the Red Devils could improve their backline. The duo of Maguire and Lindelof still have a few weaknesses. And one could argue that the reason that they have been so solid at the back recently is because of how the team is set up and that has had an effect on the output on the other end of the pitch.

Thus, it should not be a surprise to see the club go after another centre-back in the upcoming summer transfer window in order to partner Maguire. Now, could that man be Brighton & Hove Albion’s Ben White?

Is White the answer to Manchester United’s problems?

White has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the recent past. And according to Manchester Evening News, he would be open to the idea of the move in the summer although Brighton & Hove Albion are believed to be reluctant to let him leave.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, White has made 31 appearances in all competitions for Graham Potter’s side this season till now and the 23-year-old is very much a regular for The Seagulls.

White is not the only centre-back being linked with the Red Devils though. In fact, the likes of Raphael Varane, Joules Kounde, Nikola Milenkovic, Kalidou Koulibaly and several others have been linked with an Old Trafford switch in the recent past.
