Paul Pogba returned to Manchester United back in 2016 for a then world record transfer fee but has not managed to transform the team into Premier League and potential Champions League contenders, like he was expected to do.
In that regard, Bruno Fernandes has been much more effective while the Frenchman has had a topsy-turvy time at Old Trafford. While he has certainly had his highs, there have been lows as well. And on a number of occasions, he has looked close to leaving the club.
With his contract quickly running down, he will only have a year left on his current deal at the end of this season. And it looked like he was destined to depart the club in the summer.
Mino Raiola’s comments from earlier in the season just appeared to add to those fears but it looks like there might be a twist in the tale yet. As reported by The Mirror, Pogba is reportedly now open to discussing a new contract.

Pogba has been superb this season for Manchester United
It is hard to deny the fact that Pogba has been absolutely sensational at times for the Red Devils this season. While Fernandes gets most of the headlines these days, there was a stretch of games where the Frenchman was probably the best player at the club.
And that will only make him more valuable in the eyes of the board and Solskjaer, who clearly have title aspirations going forward. If he does leave, it will be very hard to replace a player of his quality.
Thus, it will be best for the club if they can keep hold of the midfielder for the foreseeable future, as he has shown this season that he is one of the best players in the league when on form. On the other hand, neither Juventus nor Real Madrid, two clubs that he has been linked with, have done very well this season. As a result, remaining at a side like Manchester United, that is improving with time, might be the best for him as well.
