It is safe to say that Jesse Lingard was not in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team plans. And as a result, both Manchester United and the player felt that it was the right time to part ways, at least temporarily, before finding a long-term solution in the future.

For years, Lingard has been considered as a player with the world of potential and all the tools required to succeed at the very top, who was only waiting to put them all together. Unfortunately, that has never quite happened for the Englishman.

And now, it looks like the club have moved on. Lingard has only been provided 179 minutes of football this season. That is quite a remarkable fall after he had featured 40 times last season. This is also in the middle of a period when United are without a proper starting right-winger, which tells you everything you need to know about his standing in the pecking order.

That has not put off other Premier League clubs from going after him and according to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United have managed to agree a loan deal for the Englishman:

Lingard has made the right decision by leaving Manchester United

West Ham United have done very well this season and currently sit at fifth in the Premier League table, which nobody could have seen coming considering the fact that they were one of the favourites to get relegated going into the campaign.

Safe to say, former Manchester United boss David Moyes deserves a lot of praise for what he has achieved. They will be hoping to kick on from here and end the season in an European spot, which is entirely possible considering how tight things are in the Premier League at this point of time.

As for Lingard, we would like to wish him the best of luck. Hopefully he can find his form at West Ham before coming back to Old Trafford and contributing to the Red Devils next season. This is certainly the right decision keeping his future in mind.
