Manchester United interested in signing La Liga wonderkid
Manchester United have set their sights on signing a winger who will certainly solve a lot of problems for them on the pitch.
The last proper out and out winger that Manchester United signed that worked for them was Antonio Valencia from Wigan Athletic. It’s been almost a decade now that the Red Devils have signed an attacking winger.
The club’s failed pursuit of Jadon Sancho means that the Dortmund star is unlikely to join his mates at Old Trafford anymore as the competition for his signature will only intensify. As such, the club is actively pursuing other targets, one of which, is Villareal’s Samuel Chukwueze.
The 21-year old has been actively scouted by many of Europe’s elite since he broke into the first-team at Villareal. According to 90min, Manchester United are the latest Premier League side, after Everton and Leicester City to join the long list of clubs looking to sign the Nigerian international.
Chukwueze has been one of the most exciting talents to come out of La Liga in recent years. Villareal fans have likened him to a certain Dutchman who once tormented Manchester United defenders, Arjen Robben.

United are not alone in keeping tabs on Chukwueze. Other rival clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool are also looking at the Villareal star as a potential signing to strengthen their team as well. Therefore, it is of paramount importance that Ed Woodward and Matt Judge, the men behind the club’s transfer dealings take a proactive approach towards sealing the signature of the Nigerian.
The squad is in desperate need of a creative and attacking outlet from the right-hand side. Mason Greenwood and Juan Mata have performed admirably in that role. They are, however, players of a different style and are not suited to that position. Which is why it is all the more important that Solskjaer and his staff have the opportunity of fielding a player with the calibre of Chukwueze.
Recent signings of Facundo Pellistri and a January agreement for Amad Diallo have been positives, but if Chukwueze is signed, he is expected to go straight into the first team and provide serious competition.
