Phil Jones is now a relic at Manchester United. Having been at the club since he signed from Blackburn Rovers under Sir Alex Ferguson, the defender was touted for greatness by the legendary boss. However, things have gone horribly wrong for him and his career at United looks to be coming to a slow and painful close.

There have been instances where Jones has shown an old-school grittiness on the pitch and a determination to protect his clean-sheet at all costs. On the other hand, his awful injury record has meant that managers have never been able to rely on him. A recent statistic from popular United analytics account on Twitter, UtdArena stated that Jones had missed over 200 games of football for United because of his injuries.

There were rumours of a move by Steve Bruce to bring him to Newcastle United recently, though nothing came of it in the end. Now, with the likes of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and the return of Eric Bailly has made matters complicated for Jones. If he can manage to remain fit and injury-free and prove himself to be of value to the squad, he may yet have a future at Old Trafford.
