#2 Jesse Lingard

Once termed as one of the most intelligent attacking players in the United squad, Jesse Lingard has undergone an unprecedented decline in past two seasons at the club. This term, the English international has failed to produce a solitary offensive output in 21 league appearances.

Applauded for his work-rate and off the ball, Lingard should at least make some attacking returns given the involvements he has from his playing positions. Probably, rising standards have unearthed realistic ceiling for the attacking midfielder.

Lingard has also garnered a fair share of headlines with last summer’s Snapchat antics and a recent change of advisors by hiring Mino Raiola. The declining performances have, often, been connected with these developments.

But, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, still, considers the 27-year-old as a valuable asset to the United squad. The manager conveyed his trust by saying-

"“Jesse is a part of the club and he’s worked really hard” “He deserves his chance to come back in and we know his qualities. We know that Jesse’s got different qualities to other players and he knows that we value him.” (quotes via Goal)"

Despite the manager’s flattering words, there is a wide-known conviction among the club insiders that Lingard’s sale could be the best thing in the status quo, with genuine interest from European side and his sale could generate most funds for United among all the players in this list, so far.

#1 Diogo Dalot

Jose Mourinho termed him the next Gary Neville, so what went wrong for the player? To analyse his career at United, my earlier piece gives a detailed explanation of why Diogo Dalot has found it tough to find his feet at Manchester United.

Suffering a series of setbacks via multiple injuries, Diogo Dalot has found it difficult to nail his place down in the starting lineup. Due to his inconsistency, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not trust the Portuguese to guard United’s right flank, going on to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

Dalot’s stocks seem to plummet with each passing game as the player grows frustrated over the lack of playing time.

Considering a budding crop of youngsters from the Academy vying for the full-back spots, the club could be tempted by Diogo Dalot’s enticing resale value amid previous interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
