Manchester United make very late attempt to sign €50m rated star
By Bence Bocsak
Manchester United look desperate for this striker.
In the greatest Manchester United sides ever assembled, the Red Devils always had an excess of formidable attacking prowess. In squads like Sir Alex Ferguson’s 08/09 side or his 98/98 team, the riches of options upfront was a tremendous show of overindulgence.
In those periods Ferguson had at least four elite strikers to chose from and usually the club dominated defences as a result.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was a part of the exciting forward quartet assembled by the Scotsman during the 98/99 season. The Norwegian was dubbed as a super-sub that season and was often undermined by the likes of Teddy Sheringham, Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole who were ahead of the Norwegian in the pecking order.

Nonetheless in just 17 starts, Solskjaer still scored a stunning 18 goals in a treble winning campaign, including a crucial last minute winner in the Champions League final.
The Norwegian is now at the helm at Old Trafford and while he has assembled an impressive attacking trio, Solskjaer still needs another addition to further bolster his options and to help him fulfil his ambitions of overthrowing the current Manchester City and Liverpool hegemony in the Premier League.
And it seems, Solskjaer is desperate to sign an exciting forward.
According to CalcioNapoli24 via Sport Witness, United have contacted Victor Osimhen‘s agent about a possible move to Old Trafford ‘hours ago.’
Victor Osimhen is currently thought to be in negotiations with Napoli over an expensive move to the Italian side, however the negotiations have clearly dragged on for some time.
There have been previous reports that the Nigerian would prefer a move to England and it seems Solskjaer is trying to exploit Victor Osimhen’s current situation.
The current Lille forward has been in tremendous form this season. After recovering from Malaria, the Nigerian star and former Youth World Cup top-goalscorer seems to be finally fulfilling his potential and after a prolific campaign finding the back of the net 18 times, it seems he is on the verge of making a big money move.
Fast with a hawk-eye for the goal, Victor Osimhen could be well suited to Solskjaer’s explosive style of play.
Would you be happy with the arrival of Victor Osimhen?
