An offer has been made for this Manchester United target.

It it no secret Manchester United are searching for a striker ahead of the transfer window. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have bolstered his options by extending Odion Ighalo‘s stay until January, however it is clear the Nigerian is a short term solution and a more long term option will be needed.

The Red Devils embarked on a desperate pursuit for Solskjaer’s fellow compatriot Erling Braut Haland but ultimately the club’s efforts were to no avail.

Nonetheless, it seems Solskjaer is searching for a player of similar ilk to the Norwegian teenage sensation. A bulky forward with pace and power who can become the linchpin of the side. Someone who is a born goalscorer and has a hawk-eye for the goal.

Carlos Vinicius has been exactly that in Portugal this season. And the Red Devils are purportedly interested in his services according to previous reports.

The Benfica forward possess an abundance of pace and he has established himself as a fan favourite. Carlos Vinicius has scored a total of 15 goals in just 22 games in the league.

Though the Red Devils may be dissuaded by the latest news which have emerged about the attacker.

Benfica’s president told BTV via the Daily Express that the Portugal club rejected a £54 million deal for Carlos Vinicius from an unnamed club.

Of course with the Red Devils’ primary targets being Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish it is unlikely they would have made such a hefty offer for a star who has yet to prove himself in a major division.

The Portugal newspaper Record via SportWitness has speculated that the offer came from United’s rivals Wolverhampton.

With the Red Devils clearly interested in Carlos Vinicius they might be tempted to rival the bid. However it is unlikely considering there are better options out there.

The likes of Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard have been just as prolific as Carlos Vinicius and are likely to be available for much cheaper.

Meanwhile with Wolverhampton’s evident Portugal connection, Wolves are more likely to succeed with their attempts to lure Carlos Vinicius to England.

This Man United target might be one that the Red Devils will have given up on.
