According to the latest reports, Manchester United could be on the brink of signing this exciting Brazilian forward who has impressed in Europe this season.

When Romelu Lukaku left Manchester United last summer, the Belgian’s departure left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in a bit of a pickle. The Norwegian had become a former striker turned manager who was ironically without an out and out forward (excluding 18 year old Mason Greenwood).

Unsurprisingly, the Red Devils’ attack was relatively tame in the first half of the season, despite a 4-0 drubbing over Chelsea in the opening fixture of the Premier League.

January would have been Solskjaer’s time to shine, to finally fill that void left behind by Romelu Lukaku.

And in Erling Braut Haland, Solskjaer had the perfect candidate to do exactly just that. Solskjaer knew Haland way before the teenage sensation had announced his name to the world. In fact, Solskjaer was one of the first to discover Haland’s talent. The current United boss gave Haland his professional debut whilst the pair of them were at Molde.

Now at United, a reunion beckoned. It was written in the stars.

Only for it to be thwarted by an adversary who has tormented the Red Devils time and time again – Mino Railo.

In the end, the super-agent’s cajoling words secured a move to Borussia Dortmund for Haland, and Solskjaer was left scratching his head.

His temporary solution Odion Ighalo has been a welcome surprise with the Nigerian having established himself as a fan favourite. However, in the summer the Norwegian will need to find a permanent fix.

According to A Bola via the Metro the Red Devils have entered the race to sign the services of Brazilian forward Carlos Vinicus.

The towering Benfica forward has netted 15 times in 22 league games for Benfica and has been a huge revelation since his move to Portugal in the summer.

Carlos Vinicius is pacy with excellent technique and a powerful presence in the box. He is a more lithe version of Romelu Lukaku and he could be the solution to Solskjaer’s forward conundrum at Old Trafford.

Of course there will be some concerns considering Carlos Vinicius’ venture into one of Europe’s top five league whilst at Napoli was ultimately a failure with the forward having never made a single league appearance for the Italian outfit.
