Manchester United have been heavily linked with Jack Grealish ahead of the summer transfer window, but the Red Devils should sign this star instead.

When the ball left his foot, it soared in the air and nestled impeccably into the back of the net. David de Gea was left frozen on the spot as the Aston Villa captain wheeled off to celebrate. The Stretford End turned ominously silent. From that cold night at Old Trafford, rumours of Jack Grealish signing for Manchester United have ceased to stop.

Purportedly, Solskjaer held talks with Grealish after the game about the potential prospect of linking up at United.

And with Aston Villa looking unlikely to avoid the drop from the Premier League, Grealish will probably look for pastures new in the summer.

Man United look the favourites to land the English midfielder, however, there are some concerns about Grealish.

The 25 year old’s talent is evident, but he has often been embroiled in controversy off the field.

Breaking lockdown rules in the past couple of months is just the latest. And Grealish’s actions off the pitch will be a worry to some. Man United have already struggled with Paul Pogba‘s attitude and Carlos Tevez‘s in the past.

They do not need a player who has the potential to stir up the dressing room harmony once more, just as Solskjaer finally seems to have assembled a semblance of unity.

Instead, the Red Devils should look to target a younger and more talented individual.

Martin Odegaard seems to have been around for some time. He broke through in Norway as a 15 year old before earning a lucrative move to Real Madrid.

At 19, people had already labelled him a flop. But that was way too immature. Sure the young star struggled to break into Real Madrid’s star studded team, however most youngsters would.

Martin Odegaard has instead polished his game with a series of loan spells, the latest of which has been at Real Sociedad.

The Norwegian midfielder has been a marvel with the blue and whites this season. His creativity and his ability to open up space for his teammates with clever runs could be a valuable asset at United.

Martin Odegarad is certainly of Jack Grealish’s ilk. In fact he is younger and he could go even further than Grealish in the game. Most importantly, his reputation has not been tarnished by his off field antics.

The fact that Martin Odegaard is also Norwegian just like Solskjaer will help him settle too.
