You will not believe who Manchester United want as De Gea’s replacement
By Bence Bocsak
According to the latest reports Manchester United are set to let David De Gea depart in the summer and they have lined-up a surprising replacement.
Manchester United have proudly boasted some of the best goalkeepers to have featured in the Premier League. From Peter Schmeichel to Edwin Van der Sar, the Red Devils have always had a strong pair of hands in between the sticks.
David De Gea is undoubtedly up there with Van der Sar and Schmeichel as a legendary goalkeeper. The Spaniard has often been the club’s saviour during the Red Devils tumultuous time since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
De Gea’s time of course didn’t start out perfectly, he had to grow and develop.

But over the last few seasons he has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Barring the few mistakes which he has made recently when he was out of form, David De Gea has rarely failed to disappoint.
Yet it seems that despite his reliability, the Red Devils could allow David De Gea depart in the summer.
The Spaniard has been linked with a move back to his homeland, Spain, for the last few seasons and perhaps the summer of 2020 will be the time when it rings true.
United will already have a great ready made replacement lined-up on paper.
Dean Henderson who is currently on loan at Sheffield United has been a revelation in the Premier League. Many have tipped him to become England number one ahead of the EUROs.
However it seems that the Red Devils may surprisingly not use Henderson as De Gea’s replacement.
According to Goal via the Daily Mail, the Red Devils’ second choice goalkeeper Sergio Romero is also ‘being considered’ to take over the number on role at Old Trafford.
That will be a major shock. While Sergio Romero has been impressive during his stints coming into the starting eleven, to rely on him as number one would be a risk.
The Argentine has not proven himself in that role for some time and he may falter stepping into such huge shoes.
The United faithful can only hope the rumour is false.
What do you think, should United allow David De Gea to leave in the summer?
